Celebrated every year on the first Monday of October by the International Union of Architects (UIA), the theme of World Architecture Day this year is “Empowering World Architecture Day: Next Generation in Participatory Urban Design”.

World Architecture Day has been celebrated on the first Monday of October every year since 1985 and coincides with the United Nations World Habitat Day. This special day highlights the contribution of architects to global urban development goals.

The theme for 2024 is “Empowering Future Generations in Participatory Urban Design”. This theme focuses on the role of young architects in urban planning and sustainable development. Young architects are encouraged to participate in urban transformation processes with their new ideas and innovative perspectives.

Resilient urban economies, sustainable cities and energy efficiency are among this year's main focal points. The contributions of young architects in projects such as the use of sustainable materials, the application of circular economy principles and the improvement of public spaces are highlighted.

World Architecture Day 2024 celebrates the role of young architects in creating sustainable cities and will showcase successful projects in this field. The empowerment of future generations stands out as proof that they will bring innovative solutions for more resilient and livable cities.

Why is World Architecture Day Celebrated? 

 As it is known, our living spaces are under threat with the global crisis and warming. Therefore, we need to think about our future now. For this reason, some projects are being undertaken to raise awareness and take precautions now.
